If you’re charging wirelessly at home and on-the-go, why are you still dealing with cables and adapters in your car? Wireless charging is now integrated into the design of the cars! In this article you’ll discover more about car wireless charging.
How does wireless car charging work?
Modern cars are engineered with a wireless charging station inside, usually in the center armrest or glove compartment. It allows drivers and passengers to simply place the device on it and to start charging right away. Also, the process automatically switches off when the battery is full. If you have an old iPhone, which does not have this integrated technology, you can use our Wireless iPhone Cases to enable your smartphone and enjoy wireless charging!
Cars which support Wireless Charging technology
Several carmakers already offer wireless chargers in select models. Leading the way are Toyota and Audi, which engineered the first vehicles in the world with in-car Qi wireless charging technology. Also, Toyota has extended it to its luxury brand Lexus, in fact the NX and LX models both offer the feature under the center armrest. While, General Motors brands such as Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac support Powermat’s wireless charging standard.
Bmw is a step forward
Bmw is taking a major step in this cutting-edge technology bringing smartphone-like wireless charging to recharge his electric car. How does it work? Using a technology called inductive charging, electricity is transferred through an air gap from one magnetic coil in the charger to a second magnetic coil fitted to the car. When the driver parks over the pad in a car that has the wireless technology and the coils are aligned, charging will begin. An app keeps you informed of charging progress and will also alert you to any disturbances to the process, a cat resting on the pad for example.
